The Hamilton (formerly the Old Creswell Hotel)

Built in the 1927 and operated for longer than eighty years as Creswell Hotel, the building at 725-729 Milam Street was sold to new owners in 2022 and will soon have a new “lease on life” as The Hamilton, a modern apartment dwelling located in the heart of Shreveport Common. The future home of The Hamilton is situated directly across Common Street from Caddo Common Park and ASEANA Asian Gardens of Shreveport. It is located less than two blocks from The Strand Theatre, Central ARTSTATION, Andress Artist & Entrepreneur Center, and Shreveport Municipal Auditorium.

History buffs will be interested to know that the original Creswell Hotel structure at this address, which opened in 1917, was the site of one of Shreveport’s deadliest fires—an inferno that claimed five lives and caused more than $100,000 worth of property damage on March 14, 1926. The current structure (promoted as “fireproof”) opened for business on February 18, 1927.
