From Blight to Bright - Together, Shreveport Common, Inc., Shreveport Regional Arts Council, City of Shreveport, Caddo Parish Commission, nearly 100 private donors, artists, architects, planners and engineers created the vibrant Caddo Common Park. 

MISSION

Shreveport Common, Inc. (SCI) was formed to implement the Creative Placemaking revitalization of a long-blighted 9-block area to the promise of the Shreveport Common Vision Plan for an UNcommon, creative cultural community. SCI works with public/private partners to remove obstacles, create partnerships and fill gaps motivating redevelopment based on these community's tenets: Authenticity, Creativity, Sustainability and for ALL in our Community with no displacement of the current neighbors.

Together We Can!

  • Save complicated properties - Acquire complicated properties through donation and/or acquisition to package for redevelopment.

  • Environmental Clean Up - Partner with Louisiana Dept. of Environmental Quality (LADEQ) on assessments and remediations

  • Build Partnerships - Attract and connect property owners, developers, business owners/entrepreneurs, artists and residents to save buildings, fill spaces and populate the area

  • Provide redevelopment resources such as grant writing, and grant writing assistance, research studies, aide development as needed

  • Market the area the area, the opportunities, and events to build visitors, attendance, business and occupancy
