Church of the Holy Cross
The Church of the Holy Cross was built in 1905 as a home for the growing congregation of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church—the same congregation that organized Shreveport’s first Protestant worship service in 1839. The Gothic Revival-style building resembles an English parish church in plan and decoration, with its steeply pitched roof and massive, four-stage bell tower. It is the third-oldest house of worship in Shreveport.
Holy Cross is well-known for its legacy of service to the downtown Shreveport neighborhood—including its neighbors in Shreveport Common—through a variety of programs and missions. The Church of the Holy Cross continues to host regular, public services that visitors are welcome to attend. For more information, visit www.churchholycross.org or contact church@churchholycross.org.
