SHREVEPORT COMMON NOW A DRUG FREE ZONE

Thanks to Church of the Holy Cross, Lakeside Baptist Church and First Methodist Church, the entire 9-block area of Shreveport Common and the surrounding area is a Drug Free Zone. State Law makes it possible for Schools, Day Cares and Churches to declare their buildings plus a 2,500 radius surrounding the building(s) as Drug Free Zones with penalties for illegal drug use at 1.5 times the maximum. SPD’s narcotics and community police officers met with the neighbors to review the laws.
