PHASE II Caddo Common park coming soon
Look for new construction in the Caddo Common park in early 2021. While Covid-19 delayed the City of Shreveport bid process on the larger park amenities, we have stayed hard at work to make sure all of the park features will be completed as soon as possible.
In early 2021, look construction to begin on the new Outdoor Performance Pavilion - with stage and restrooms - Water Feature, the completed Art Bosque Food Truck Court with permanent AARP table sets and 23’ tall, solar paneled Artist-Trees.
Caddo Common park Phase I, including the great lawn, tree-lined walking paths, Louisiana Gardens, bioswale natural irrigation system, and food tuck court with electric hook-ups, and infrastructure for Phase II was completed in November 2019 by City of Shreveport with funds from an Economic Development Agency grant and a DEQ Brownsfield grant by City of Shreveport. (See Park Opening with FriendsWithYou Rainbow City installation, below). With social distancing in place, the park has been a way to “get outside;” a gathering space for families, friends, walkers, poetry readings, pop-up concerts, an art exhibition, food trucks and diners.
Funding is in place for Phase II of Caddo Common thanks to the generosity of Park Partners, sponsors and donors big and small and the public match by Caddo Parish Commission.
While we wait for Phase II, be sure to stop by 869 Texas Ave. You’ll want to bring your walking shoes, a picnic lunch, or a good book to read from the park benches already in place.
